Week 2 in Eagle Class

A summary of some of our learning from last week:

In science we set about investigating which liquid is worst for our teeth. To do this we decided to use egg shells and put them in different liquids to see what happens to them over the week. We  decided to investigate milk, water, coke, tea, vinegar, apple juice and blackcurrant squash. We discussed how to make it a fair test and predicted which we thought would be worse. We have already noticed some changes but will be looking closely on Tuesday to make our observations and draw some conclusions.

In history, we looked at an  image of a scarab pendant from the ancient Egyptians. We discussed what we could learn from this object. We were interested to find out about why the scarab beetle was important to the ancient Egyptians.

In art, we have started to design our own tomb paintings. We looked at the style of Egyptian art and drawings of the Gods. Our aim is to then paint these designs onto our own tiles.

If you have either of these things at home that you would be able to donate to us to help us with our  art work then we would really find it useful:

- If you have any rectangular containers at home, we would be grateful for these to make our plaster of paris tiles for our tomb paintings. Anything like plastic take away containers, rectangular ice cream tubs, sturdy shoe box lids etc would be ideal.
 - If you have any old shirts we could use as painting aprons, such as a short or long sleeved man's work shirts... these would also be appreciated :-)
