Some photos of Term 4

Just a few photos of some of the things we have been doing this term in Eagle Class:

Y4 Maths- as part of our data handling work, we conducted a traffic survey. Some of us were outside school and some of us went to the park to watch the A607. The children in the park were very excited to see a variety of vehicles, including numerous lorries, vans and even a motorbike and a cyclist. However the children outside school were surprised by the number of cars that drove past in 20 minutes (approx 60).

Science- As part of our work on electricity over the term, we have enjoyed using the circuit equipment. During the last week of term, we were set the challenge of making switches using different materials. We were then tasked with making a burglar alarm which would be hidden under a doormat and a buzzer sound when someone stepped on it! After a lot of investigating and modifying designs, several groups managed to make an alarm using cardboard, foil, sponge and circuit equipment.

Poet Visit- A couple of photos showing some of our drama activities from earlier in the term when the poet David Mason worked with us.

Sport Relief

On Friday we all had a fun day to celebrate and raise money for Sport Relief. During the morning we were in groups with other children from different classes to try out 6 different activities including ladders, bounce, cricket and boccia. It was great to work with children from different classes and there was some great team work shown throughout the activities whilst having lots of fun.

After lunch it was time to get up to the park to complete the sport relief mile. We got into our houses for this and it was great that lots of parents came up to support us and walk with us. After 4 laps of the park, we were very happy to have completed our mile.

Watch this space for photos of our sport relief activities.....

Visit from the poet, David Mason

Welcome to our first Eagle Class blog! We will use this blog to tell you about some of the exciting things we get up to in school.

This week we were lucky to have a visit from the poet David Mason. In the morning, Year 5 and 6 enjoyed his poems and then created some interpretive drama which we then performed to the rest of the group. We then used our ideas to start some written work.

In the afternoon it was Year 4's turn to enjoy David's energetic performance with Year 3s. We were amazed by the expression and entertainment he created as he performed some of his poems and songs.  We then got the chance to put our drama skills to use as we became greedy rich people!
