Happy Easter

Wishing everybody in Eagle class and their family a very happy Easter. Thank you for all your hard work.

Looking forward to the start of term 5, Year 5's will be off on our residential trip to Freiston on Monday 15th April. Year 4s will be enjoying a creative project for 3 days with Mrs Wicks.

From Miss Chadwick

Music concert

On Wednesday afternoon we had out school music concert. Well done to Anna, Hannah and Daniel who performed as soloists. Our class performance was of Bleu, Blanc, Rouge ( performed as a round to the tune of Frère Jacques) and You can't stop the beat from Hairspray. The children all sang beautifully and coped very well with the speed of the lyrics in the Hairspray song!

Easter baking

As an end of term treat, Eagle class enjoyed baking biscuits. In small groups, we took turns to measure and mix then made our own Easter shaped biscuit. Later that day we iced and decorated our biscuit. I don't think many of the biscuits made it home and were scoffed while leaving school at the end if the day!

Thank you to Mrs Daly and Mrs Arnold for helping us bake!

Year 4 literacy

In literacy this week year 4's have been writing recounts about a trip to Tokyo. Some people wrote that they went with a friend, like Harriet, Harry and Daniel. We were so enthusiastic about finishing some people did a page and a half wow!!!!

To be successful we needed to include time connectives, feelings, past tense and write in first person. Our big focus was using paragraphs!
We have also tried to do cursive handwriting .

Our recounts are in a class folder on our book shelf so we can read and enjoy each other's writing. Take a look next time you are in our classroom, they really are fab!

Red Nose Day

This Red Nose Day in Eagle we all had fun dressing up in red. At break time to we had a cake sale to raise money for charity. It was a success! We raised £148! Some people did a bounce of the highest score was 50 jumps in 20 seconds. Back to the cake stall, all of the cakes came from hard working children (Oh, don't forget the adults). As it's Red Nose Day you can expect that some of the children came in wearing a red nose but this caused a lot of disruption in classes. To the year fives,in literacy they made Red Nose Day posters to encourage people to buy red noses. Some people were so exited that they just had to paint their hair red! In the playground the other teachers froze to death wearing short sleeved red T-shirts. The main talking point was dragged away from Red Nose Day to football teams as lots wore red football shirts.

This blog post has been written by Hannah and Ryan, 2 of our school council representatives in Eagle class.

Science

Today we decided to investigate whether more layers does in fact help insulate. We decided to test this by using pots of hot water and keeping them warm with different amounts of layers of a material.

We had a few difficulties with our investigation, including multiple knocked over pots of water and some problems with thermometers appearing not to work, but we did learn some good investigative skills and put into practice our team working skills!

On Friday 8th March, we celebrated World Book Day. The children dressed up as favourite book characters and they all looked amazing. We had book related activities all morning including swapping teachers and paired reading with younger children.

Here are some photos of our day!

Then in the afternoon it was our Mother's share afternoon. Thank you to all Mums, Aunties, Grans and Carers who were able to come in to see us this afternoon.

NSPCC sponsored event

On Tuesday Val from The NSPCC came back to lead our keep fit session. All the children took part enthusiastically and are busily collecting sponsorship money. Money and sponsorship forms should be back in school next Tuesday (12th) when Val will be back to say thank you for all the money we have raised.
